The mission of the Health Services Department is to increase the student’s capacity to benefit from education by providing professional health and medical expertise that support student achievement.

The Alief Independent School District’s Department of Health Services oversees the comprehensive health and medical service programs for all students.

Professional Registered Nurses and other health professionals offer a thorough health appraisal process with preventive health services. Services include health screenings, anticipatory guidance and communicable disease control measures. The nurses ensure that each school is in compliance with the policies applicable to immunization laws, emergency care referral and follow-ups for illness’ or injury at school. Health care needs, case management requirements, health promotional activities are provided for staff, families and community with comprehensive health education resources.

These guidelines are written in accordance with Alief Independent School Districts belief and vision to support student achievement

Please contact your child's school nurse if:

• Your child has new or existing medical conditions and restrictions

• There are changes to your child's medical treatment

• You have a records request (such as immunization records, medication logs, etc.)

When contacting the school nurse, please include the following information in your email:

• Your child's name

• Your child's student ID number (if available)

• Your child's date of birth

• The parent/guardian's contact information (phone number and email address) so that we can verify the parent/guardian's identity prior to sharing student information
