The Teacher Incentive Allotment is a Texas Education Agency initiative that allows districts to recognize and designate highly effective teachers as Recognized, Exemplary, or Master. Designations generate additional state funding annually as long as teachers remain eligible under the program's requirements, with the majority of the funds being utilized to increase teacher salaries. Alief Independent School District has received official notification from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that its 2025-2026 Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations have been approved, based on data from the 2024-2025 school year.
Alief Independent School District is proud to announce that more than 550 educators have earned new or higher Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations through the statewide program administered by the Texas Education Agency. Based on anticipated results, these designations are expected to generate an estimated $8 million in additional state funding for the district during the 2024β25 allotment cycle.
The Teacher Incentive Allotment recognizes highly effective educators whose impact on student growth and learning outcomes is demonstrated through a combination of measures, including student growth data and classroom observations. The program is designed to help school districts recruit, retain, and reward exceptional teachersβparticularly in high-need areasβwhile ensuring students have consistent access to strong instruction.
This year, Alief ISD educators earned designations across all three TIA levels:
Recognized: 217 teachers
Exemplary: 276 teachers
Master: 86 teachers
βThese designations reflect the extraordinary work happening in classrooms across Alief ISD every day,β said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays. βOur teachersβ commitment to student growth and academic excellence makes a lasting difference in the lives of our students. TIA not only celebrates that impact, but also strengthens our ability to retain outstanding educators and continue building a district where excellence thrives.β
TIA generates additional state funding that is tied directly to designated educators. Districts may use these funds to strengthen teacher retention efforts, support strategic staffing, and invest in instructional excellence. In Alief ISD, the TIA system reflects a deep commitment to educator growth, high-quality instruction, and improved student achievement.
District leaders also emphasized that the success of TIA is a collective effort. Classroom teachers, campus administrators, instructional coaches, evaluators, data teams, human resources, payroll staff, and many others all play a vital role in supporting effective teaching and learning across the district.
As part of the standard process, the final step includes the Texas Education Agencyβs routine winter roster verification to confirm that designated educators remain in eligible teaching assignments. The district anticipates results will remain consistent.
